How does Xen-Tan give such a natural-looking tone?

The secret to Xen-Tan's success is the increased levels of DHA, the active tanning ingredient. DHA is released slowly over time to give a deeper, richer olive tone that lasts longer. Our unique formula contains a special time-release agent called Lexorez, which means we can include much higher levels of DHA. Combined with premium moisturisers that are absorbed naturally into the skin, the result is a smoother, more even sunless tan.

How long does Xen-Tan last for?

Once applied, Xen-Tan Dark and Medium products create an instant, seductive colour that intensifies over the next 8 hours, whereas if you opt for a Light/Gradual Xen-Tan product, your colour will start to develop within 3-4 hours, and will continue deepening for the next 4 hours. You'll then be getting envious looks and adoring glances for up to ten days, which can be extended using our Transform gradual tanner as a tan extender.

Xen-Tan is packed with moisturisers that penetrate deep into your skin to prevent dry patches from occurring. This also makes it easier to apply to problem areas like hands and feet. So once you're done, all you're left with is a sensational look and dreamy smooth skin. Nothing more, nothing less.

Why does Xen-Tan last longer than other brands?

It's quite simple really - many existing brands use fruit acids to remove unwanted skin cells from the surface of your body. These fruit acids, whilst effective, also make your tan fade faster and dry out your skin, So we've removed all fruit acids from our body tanning products and enriched our formula with moisturisers that retain your glow for longer. These premium moisturisers, combined with the higher levels of DHA in our products and the special time-release agent, Lexorez, mean Xen-Tan lasts days longer than other fake tans on the market.

Is Xen-Tan suitable for very fair skin?

Yes it is. In fact, Xen-Tan was specifically formulated by a fair-skinned woman for this very reason! The unique combination of moisturisers and time-release agent Lexorez, plus the fact all of our products have olive and not orange undertones, mean they work with your natural colour. So now even the fairest skin can enjoy a beautiful, natural-looking glow that blends in seamlessly regardless of skin tone, leaving you with an exquisite tan and a radiant smile.

Do you have to sleep in it like other self-tanning formulas?

No. Unlike other sunless tans Xen-Tan gives an instant, pure colour that becomes richer over time. And because it's beautifully scented it's a pleasure to use any time of day. Ideal if you want to look sensational and feel amazing in no time at all.

How long do I need to leave Xen-Tan on before showering it off?

Your tan will start to develop over the 3-4 hours following application. You can wash it off after that, but for the best possible results, we suggest you leave it on for at least 7-8 hours before showering. Thanks to its delicious scent, you can apply it first thing and feel confident wearing it all day. We do recommend wearing darker clothes while your tan is developing.

How long does Xen-Tan take to develop?

If you choose a product with an instant colour guide, you'll see the difference on your skin as soon as you apply. Your tan will then continue to develop over the next 3-4 hours. You can wash it off after that, but if you want to achieve the best possible results, we recommend you leave it on for at least 7-8 hours.

Can people with dry skin use Xen-Tan?

What fragrance does Xen-Tan have?

Each product has a different light and delicious fragrance, which are not at all 'biscuity' like other fake tans often are. Due to its high levels of DHA, Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe also contains Scent Secure - a revolutionary new ingredient that locks out any chemical odour.

Can I use Xen-Tan on my face?

Yes - we've developed two fantastic face tanners, specially formulated to care for the delicate skin of the face. They're so lightweight, you can apply them every day as part of your facial care routine and enjoy gorgeous results, with or without make-up.

What ingredients does Xen-Tan contain?

Does Xen-Tan protect you from the sun?

No, Xen-Tan contains no SPF, so always make sure you use a high factor sun cream when you're out in the sun. We recommend using an oil-free variety as the oils in sun cream can break down DHA and cause your tan to fade more quickly.

What is DHA?

DHA is the active ingredient used in sunless tanning products. Now for the science bit... Full name dihydroxyacetone, it's a sugar molecule that reacts with the amino acids on the surface of the skin. The level of DHA we use in our products controls how dark and natural the colour looks. Too much DHA can lead to a "rusty", unbalanced look. But too little, results in an ineffective tan that fades quickly. Xen-Tan uses a much higher level of DHA than any other product on the market, but because we combine it with time-release agent Lexorez which slows down the release of the DHA, plus skin-nourishing moisturising oils, the colour looks completely natural, lasts longer and doesn't give off the off-putting 'fake tan smell' which it's responsible for in so many other tanning products.

What sun cream can I use with Xen-Tan?

To protect your skin, we recommend you use a high SPF factor sun cream if you're out in the sun. And to protect your tan, we suggest you use an oil-free variety if possible, as the oils in sun cream can cause your tan to fade faster. Other factors, such as chlorine and sand abrasion can also fade your tan, so we recommend using Xen-Tan Body Scrub to keep your skin in the best possible condition, and using one of our Transform products to keep your colour topped up. So you can enjoy a gorgeous sun-kissed glow that's completely safe for your skin.

Can I moisturise with Xen-Tan?

Yes you can - we recommend that once you've showered after applying, you moisturise skin daily with an oil-free moisturiser. On the third day after applying, gently exfoliate your skin with Xen-Tan Body Scrub. Don't worry, it's completely colour-safe so won't strip your tan, it'll just keep your skin feeling wonderfully soft and smooth. To prolong your tan, use Transform or Transform Luxe as a tan extender, to keep your colour topped up and looking gorgeous.

No matter which fake tan product I try, I still find some areas harder to tan. Any suggestions?

Each person tans slightly differently, and some say they have areas where their tanner never seems to develop as deeply. Our research suggests Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe could be the answer, as users tell us it gives outstanding results, even on their 'hard to tan' areas.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

Standard delivery is between 2-4 working days, but we always try our hardest to get your order to you within 2 days if we can. Please be aware that orders placed over weekends and during public holidays may take slightly longer to process. We also offer a next-day delivery option If you'd like your items to arrive quicker.

Where is my order?

If you haven't received your order within 5 working days, we recommend you check with your local Royal Mail sorting office before contacting us, in case they have tried to deliver it but not left a calling card. To find your local Royal Mail delivery office, go to www.royalmail.com or call them directly on 08457 740740. If Royal Mail can't locate your parcel, please e-mail our customer care team on customercare@xen-tan.co.uk, including your full name, order date and if possible your order reference number. Alternatively, call the team on 0844 800 7661.

What if there is an incorrect or missing item on my order?

In the unlikely instance that your order is incorrect or incomplete, we apologise for the confusion and promise we'll work quickly to rectify the situation. If there's an item missing from your order, please call our customer care team on 0844 800 7661 or email them via customercare@xen-tan.co.uk, including your order reference. If you have received an incorrect item then please return it to us and we will send out the correct one immediately. Please also enclose a copy of your order confirmation, a covering letter outlining the error and a receipt for the return postage, which we will reimburse you for, to:

What if I want to cancel my order and or/return an item?

You have the right to cancel your order at any time before you receive it, and up to 14 days after the delivery date. Please call or email our customer care team to let them know you wish to cancel on customercare@xen-tan.co.uk or 0844 800 7661.

Returns
If you need to return any products, you can do this within 14 days of receiving them, as long as they are new, unused, unopened and in a re-saleable condition.

Please make sure all returns are suitably packaged and include a cover note giving your full name, e-mail address, and an order reference number, as we need these details to process your refund. We will then refund your credit or debit card with the price of the products within 30 days (starting from the day you gave us notice of your intention to cancel your order).

What do I do if I've forgotten to enter my promotional code?

All promotional codes must be entered at the time you place your order as unfortunately we can't apply them once we've received your order. Don't forget to click 'Apply Now' after you have entered your promotional code in order to enjoy your discount.

Can I order Xen-Tan by phone?

Yes you can, by calling our order line on 0844 800 7661 between 9am-5.30pm. However, the quickest and most convenient way is to order via our web shop, which is completely secure and open 24 hours a day.

Is it safe to order Xen-Tan online?

Yes it is - all card transactions made at xen-tan.co.uk are completely secure. We use DataCash as our payment provider, which ensures safe transmission of your personal information using 256-bit full encryption over SSL. All data transmissions are also verified by Thawte.

Please note that Xen-Tan doesn't keep any record of customers' card details.

What information do you require and is it shared with third parties?

Can I use Xen-Tan if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

I see some Xen-Tan products contain nut extracts, is it safe for those who have nut allergies?

If you have nut-allergies, you should always consult your doctor before using any product containing nut extracts. You'll be glad to know that only our Dark Lotion contains nut extracts - everything else is completely nut free. So our Transform and Deep Bronze products are great alternatives if you have nut allergies, and mean you can always enjoy a healthy-looking glow.

Is it safe to use Xen-Tan on my breasts while I'm breastfeeding?

If you're breastfeeding, we recommend you ask your doctor before using any of our products. In addition, you can call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for further advice.
